Serial Admirer, the new single from Timothy and the Apocalypse, is out today.
Inspired by a journey through Japan, the track grew from the contrast between two very different experiences: the relentless movement, light and repetition of Tokyo and the stillness of a mist-covered morning at Lake Ashi in Hakone.
That contrast became part of the music — rhythm and repetition set against space, atmosphere and memory.
The visual identity of Serial Admirer comes from the same journey. I created the cover using my own photograph of the torii gate at Lake Ashi, fragmenting and layering the original image until it became less about documenting a place and more about remembering how that place felt.
Photography records what I saw. Music gives me another way to remember how it felt.
